From the page Direct Voice 4 through the Mediumship of Leslie Flint

With this communication so began for George Woods, Betty Greene and their reel to reel tape recorder a 15 year series of regular sittings with the independent direct voice Medium Leslie Flint that culminated in over five hundred recorded first hand accounts from those passed on to the next stage of existence beyond the grave referred to by most as 'death.'

As a reward for her efforts Betty Greene presents these recordings to the world to enlighten mankind :

January 30th 1967 a voice manifested in the seance-room of British Medium Leslie Flint in the presence of sitters Betty Greene and George Woods, which claimed to be that of a small boy, who gave his name as Bobby Tracey. The following is part of the transcription of the seance conversation where he told them of his present life.

Bobby:"I like to paint, I have a box of paints and I have papers, and I make pictures."
Betty Greene: "Lovely. Did you like doing that when you were on this side?
Bobby:"Yes, I did. But I can draw good now. I have good 'perspective'. Yes, very good - teacher says I have good 'perspective'.
George Woods: "Is your father on that side, Bobby?"
Bobby: "Oh no. He's got another lady now. Mummy and me, we - we see him sometimes, but he's got another lady."
Betty Greene: "Did you and your mummy go over together, Bobby?"
Bobby: "Yes, we was come - we was come over - we killed - we was killed in a smash."
Betty Greene: "In a car smash?"
Bobby: "On the road, yes."

Bobby Tracey - 3746K - 20 minutes - recorded 1967
a five year old boy killed in a smash on the road with his mother - still goes to school, plays games and swims in the river - a fun kid to listen to. The voice went on to speak for some time and then trailed off for lack of power.

David 2 - 5346K - 28 minutes - recorded 1966
doing rescue work of earthbound - religious cases are among the worst - a case of a boy killed in a car wreck

Jenny Wilson - 5466K - 29 minutes - recorded 1971
died in childbirth with first child a hundred years ago during Queen Victoria's time - child grown up in Spirit World into fine young woman who is a dancer - her death a beautiful experience into the realms of happiness.

Isaac Watson - 6581K - 35 minutes - recorded 1964
Jewish son of Polish immigrant - a sense of tremendous relief to pass on to where he found himself - found an exact replica of the old home - very wrong to assume that the earth is the only world.

Sid Hopkins - 4619K - 24 minutes
killed in a fall from a tree he meets a young man that calls him 'Dad' and finds it to be the son he had forgotten about having that died at infancy - and there was Timmy, his dog, wagging his tail - finds his old cronies can't see him because he is on a different vibration.

Brother Boniface - 8854K - 47 minutes - recorded 1974

From the Spirits Book by Allan Kardec

Loss of Those We Love.

934. Is not the loss of those who are dear to us a legitimate source of sorrow, seeing that this loss is both irreparable and independent of our action?

"This cause of sorrow, which acts alike upon rich and poor, is the common law of humanity, for it is either a trial or an expiation; but you have the consolation of holding communication with your friends through the means already possessed by you, while awaiting other means that will be more direct, and more accessible to your senses."

935. What is to be thought of the opinion which regards communication with those who are beyond the grave as a profanation?

"There can be no profanation where there is reverent concentration of thought and sympathy, and when the evocation is made with fitting respect; and the proof of this is found in the fact the Spirits who love you take pleasure in coming to you; they rejoice in being remembered by you, and in being able to converse with you. But there would be profanation in this communication if carried on in a spirit of frivolity."

The possibility of entering into communication with Spirits is most consoling, since it gives us the means of holding converse with those of our relatives and friends who have quitted the earthly life before us. By our evocation, we draw them nearer to us they come to our side, hear us, and reply to us there is, so to say, no longer any separation between them and us. They aid us with their counsels, and assure us of the pleasure afforded them by our remembrance. It is a satisfaction for us to know that they are happy, to learn from themselves the details of their new existence, and to acquire the certainty of our rejoining them in our turn.

936. What effect has the inconsolable sorrow of survivors upon the Spirits who are the object of that sorrow?

"A Spirit is touched by the remembrance and regrets of those he has loved; but a persistent and unreasonable sorrow affects him painfully, because he sees, in this excessive grief, a want of faith in the future and confidence in God, and, consequently, an obstacle to the advancement of the mourner, and, perhaps, to their reunion."

A Spirit, when disincarnated, being happier than he was upon the earth, to regret his change of life is to regret his being happy. Two friends are prisoners, shut up in the same dungeon both of them are some day to be set at liberty, but one of them obtains his deliverance before the other. Would it be kind on the part of him who remains in prison to regret that his friend has been set at liberty before him? Would there not be on his part more selfishness than affection in wishing his friend to remain in captivity and suffering as long as himself? It is the same with two persons who love one another upon the earth; he who quits it first is the first delivered; and the other ought to rejoice in his deliverance, while awaiting with patience the moment when he shall he delivered in his turn. We may illustrate this subject by another comparison. You have a friend whose situation, while remaining near you, is a painful one; his health or his interests require that he should go to another country, where he will be better off in every respect. He will no longer be near you at every moment, but you will still be in correspondence with him; the separation between you will be only in your daily life. Should you grieve for his removal, since it is for his good?

By the evident proofs which it gives us of the reality of the future life, and of the presence about us and the continued affection and solicitude of those we have loved, as well as by the relations which it enables us to keep up with them. Spiritism offers us the most effectual consolation under the greatest and most painful of earthly sorrows; it does away with solitude and separation, for it shows us that the most isolated of human beings is always surrounded by a host of friends, with whom he can hold affectionate converse.

We are often impatient under the tribulations of life; they seem to us so intolerable that we cannot believe it to be possible for us to bear up under them; and yet, if we have borne them with courage, if we have been able to silence our murmurings, we shall rejoice to have undergone them, when we have finished our earthly career, as the patient rejoices, when convalescent, to have resigned himself to the painful course of treatment that has cured him of his malady.

Mother's babies materialize in an Eddy Brothers seance.

It was a living, moving child, which, with its right thumb in its mouth, nestled its little head in the neck of its bearer, and passed its chubby left arm about her neck. For the instant it was as palpable and, no doubt, as material a being as any baby now lying in its mother's arms. Made from the imponderable atoms floating in the foul air of that chamber, it was resolved into nothing in an instant of time..  mother's babies materialize.

The apparition of a youngish woman holding a baby in her arms followed immediately after Honto's retirement, and caused an exhibition of tender pathos. In the semi-darkness of the room it is, as I have said before, generally but not always the case, that persons cannot recognize the Spirits until attention has been specially drawn to them, when their individuality is settled by the general appearance of their form, weight, and motions, in case no words are spoken by them to their questioning friends. In this case the usual query, Is it for me ? was running along the line, when a woman's voice exclaimed in an agonizing tone, Is that my baby ? Is it my--; is it CHARLIE ? The Spirit-Woman nodded and smiled and held the baby forward for recognition. There was a sob, a wail, an outburst of maternal tenderness: My darling ! My angel! -and the poor mother could say no more, for sobs choked her utterance. This scene was followed by another of like character. A German Jewess of nervous temperament sat beside me on the front bench. The curtain was pushed aside, and there in the cabinets door stood her daughter of twelve years, in a white gown, and with her black hair brushed back from her temples. The mother, overcome with joy, poured forth a volley of questions in German, intermingled with ejaculations, which the happy child tried to answer by rapping assent or dissent with her knuckles upon the door-post, and disappeared as her mother was ready to fall into a swoon from excess of emotion themselves,

Two features of this occasion will arrest the attention of scientific minds, viz : the appearance and disappearance of the baby, and the instantaneous formation of Honto and shawl. There could be no mistake about the child--no questions of rag-wrapped legs or fondled pillows. The figure stood too near me and in too good a light to admit of such deceptions being practiced. It was a living, moving child, which, with its right thumb in its mouth, nestled its little head in the neck of its bearer, and passed its chubby left arm about her neck. For the instant it was as palpable and, no doubt, as material a being as any baby now lying in its mother's arms. Made from the imponderable atoms floating in the foul air of that chamber, it was resolved into nothing in an instant of time, leaving no trace of its evanescent existence behind. And the shawl! in what Spirit-home, by what hearth, or under what vine-trellised porch (for Mayflower's rhymes teem with allusions to her house and garden, her pets and domestic companions) was its yarn spun, its knots tied, and its strands tinted? Whose busy fingers plied the needles, or whose hand guided the ghostly loom by which its meshes were formed? Mystery of mysteries! What Cedipus can solve the riddle? And how long must we wait for an answer?

The phenomena of the evening concluded with the incident which furnished the subject of the accompanying sketch of The Reunited Family. A German music teacher of Hartford, named Max Lenzberg, and a very worthy gentleman, to whom I am indebted for numerous acts of courtesy for which I desire to make acknowledgment, was at Chittenden with his wife and daughter. At Mr. Eddy's request he played on the flute during the seance, and so occupied a chair in advance of the front row of spectators and within a few feet of the cabinet. After Mr. Brown's disappearance, the curtain was again drawn aside, and we saw standing at the threshold, two children. One was a baby of about one year, and the other a child of twelve or thirteen. Behind them, very indistinctly, could be observed the form of an old woman, who held up the curtain with her left hand and supported the baby with her right. Mrs. Lenzberg, with a mother's instinct, recognized her departed little ones, and with tender pathos, eagerly asked in German if they were not hers. Immediately there came several loud responsive raps, and the little Lena, as if drawn from her mother's side by an irresistible power, crept forward and peered at the forms that stood just at the edge of the black shadows of the cabinet. There was a moment's silence as she strained her eyes in the gaze, and then she said joyfully: Ja ! Ar seid meine Heine schwestern ! Nicht wahr ? There came again responsive raps, and the Spirit-forms danced and waved their arms as if in glee at the reunion.
