Carl Soderling Medium
Sweden Mental medium
medium Carl Soderling, Sweden
Translated through Google translate.
The young Carl Soderling
died on April 10, 1948, he certainly carried the banner in
Swedish Spiritualism along his earthly path. For nearly half a century he
served as a medium and worked alongside the leaders of the movement, with
whom he devote his life to a movement that stands and Spiritualism will
stand in great debt to him. His father Carl Soderling was born April 11,
1873 in Kolbacks parish in Vastmanland. His father was an officer and spent
most of his time away from home. The mother passed away when his son was
only in two years' age. His father remarried, but it was poor in the home,
and conditions in adolescence was very difficult.
When his father dies ten years later, the young
Carl's upbringing was taken over by a captain JE Beskow, master of a boat
which traded on the shipping route from Sweden to Germany. Carl had to go on
several trips and do the right thing as a ship's boy. Later he came to
Stockholm, where he was employed as a clerk in a pipeline company, owned by
a brother of Captain Beskow. This job he kept for many years.
Already as a youth he was drawn to the religious
life. After the confirmation, he entered the Salvation Army, but he does not
fully connect with the movement. He then joined with great enthusiasm to the
temperance movement, delivered speeches, declaimed and contributed to the
entertainment at the meetings. He had the word of his power and was
delighted to have an audience, to control and set.
In 1899 he married. His wife Elna shared his moral
and religious interests, and with his practical mind, she became him very
helpful and a valuable asset to the business, which would soon open up to
him. Spiritualist Literature Association had by this time been around for
twenty years, and there were a lot of spiritists and spiritualists in
Stockholm at that time. Any significant connection could not talk about. In
America, it was different and there was a Swedish-American, Dr A. A
Alexanderson come in contact with the movement. Then he returned to Sweden
organized organized Dr. Alexanderson a number of spiritualistic lecture in
templarlokalen Tjärhovsgatan 14, to which the public was invited.
One Sunday in December 1899 happened Soderling and
his wife strolling past the room and saw the poster and went inside. The
lecture was a revelation for them both, and they were frequent visitors to
these meetings. Soon, they had friends within the spiritualist ranks.
Soderling recalled some mysterious events from his childhood, memories that
almost disappeared in oblivion ocean. Surely, he had always been media.
Especially a thing was clear to him: the brother Torwalds death. Torwald
went over the few years of age, when Carl was still a child. When the doctor
came and noted the death, saw Carl brother fully evident in the spiritual
guise, and heard him say: "Tell the doctor that Torwald not dead!" Blandly
forwarded this greeting, but he would not have done. The result was ironing
and admonitions. The result was that he did not dare to relate to such
experiences in the future.
Finally, Soderling was invited to a seance. Medium
Miss Augusta Jonsson, who spoke in trance, but the preparations heard, that
the room was completely dark. Probably was not the participants prepared for
what would happen. Medium "began puffing like a steam engine 'and suddenly
heard a baby talk (* Physical mediumship *," Article Printer interpretation
") But not fans there any children in the room! Soderling and his wife
hardly knew what to think, it was not far from the promised each other never
to attend a seance! But eventually changed their minds at this unreal ....
A desire to be self-medium occurred in Soderling,
and developments came very quickly. One of his first friends in
spiritualism, industrialist Eskil Werner says about this:
"One day my wife and I visited in their homes by
Folkungagatan. We urged lot of spiritualism, which we considered as a truth,
which could lead to salvation and fraternity, on the right was taken.
Soderling confided to me then that he wanted become a trance medium, that he
tried to put himself in a trance but not succeeded.
I then took both his hands in mine, his wife sang a
religious song and I prayed to God to give him psychic power and ability,
and that he would be a means to bring our cause forward. My prayer was
immediately heard.
Everything seemed to be above
expectations. He fell asleep for a little while, and while I held his hands,
he went into a deep trance. Through him emerged and spoke already this first
time high intelligences, which uttered words rarely spoken by the human
tongue. They gave us their names and the words were marked by deep religious
feeling, love and understanding. In the beginning we were only a few
participants during the sessions, as the family Soderling arranged in the
home. But more and more sought access, and the small dwelling with one room
and kitchen was crowded by fans, of which only a few were able to get
seating.
There were many wonderful messages
through him, and many were convinced that their s. K dead, their loved ones,
survived a higher and purer life in the spirit world. Many arrived mournful
and walked away with rejoicing and joy in their hearts. But the neighbors
complained that they were disturbed, and a new room for meetings must be
sought. They found a refuge, which, however, was anything but ideal, in
Maria Assembly old almshouses, Hornsgatan 27, a local who stood up before
the house was demolished. It was unhygienic, with thick stone walls and
small openings for windows and resembled more of a prison than a home for
people, as it remained one time. But when seances initiated forgot to remove
the surroundings.
Among those who during this time often
appeared by Soderling were many prominent writers and poets. Topelius and
Rydberg spoke often in bound form. Which later resulted in books written as
poetry and prose, he also wrote articles and spiritual books. No doubt
inspired by the spirits who communicated through him, he found himself
unable to write poetry as well as prose, yes, even drama, during the
signature "Aries", he participated in various provincial newspapers with
essays and poems. A collection of poems "Isissloja" were published 1909th
Later, in a very simple but suitable room at Ragvald
Street 1 Soderling began collaboration with Dr. Alexanderson. Sessions
alternating with lectures. Which ruled through a good spirit, and which was
celebrated solemn moments that would never be forgotten. Especially solemnly
was julottor the seance, organized by Soderling and his wife, due
julpredikan by Dr. Alexanderson.
Mary Karadja we became the turn often
talked about in the press, and did much to interest the higher social
classes of spiritualism. She invited foreign media to Stockholm, among
others. Englishman Vout Peters, and Soderling was invited to participate in
one of his seances. Mary Karadja had previously come to know Soderling, who
at a meeting in the premises at Ragvald street but to have preferred her
long, inspired the poem "Against the Light". By Peter got Soderling a
description of their spiritual leader, Marcus, who for many years came to
stand Soderling bee in his media work. The nearest circle of friends know
well, that Marcus once to have held a prominent ecclesiastical position in
our country, something which is not contradicted by the worthy sermons on
various subjects, which usually started Soderling seances.
During the first few years as a medium,
he retained his position as clerk, but then he began long lecture tours
across the country. He evangelized for spiritualism, which he called "Ghost
Religion". While Denmark and Norway extended his travels; especially
Denmark, he was cordially received by the sense kinsmen, who fought for a
much safer position than in Sweden.
It was something of a poet, who after the
custom of wanted to live bohemia carefree existence, over Soderling, at this
time, and perhaps even later. He worried little for the morrow; it always
works in one way or another. But the wife Elna, with its before-mentioned
practical orientation, which is understood to eke out the small income
through room rentals, etc., he would surely have had even greater financial
difficulties. Yes, no income to speak of, it was not through mediumship;
where even he contributed to was very reluctant to receive personal
compensation for their media services. At séances asked to present an
offering bowl at the door, and at the conclusion of the meeting asked those
present to donate some money for the rent.
Shortly before the First World War, the family moved
to the apartment on Lundagatan, which since then became a beloved gathering
place for those who have part in the innumerable seances, which where held.
Soderling became increasingly appreciated for her performance in the
movement. And during this period are born his book "The dead are living."
After the war Soderling spent a year in Germany, where he studied art,
alongside his media work, he dedicated himself in the coming years both to
painting, and physical therapy. In 1913, for he had been trained as a
masseur at Ullman's institutions. In 1920 Spiritualist Society was formed in
Stockholm (SS) The initiator was the wife Louise Breitholtz, b. Wachtmeister,
and Soderling was one of the founder members.
The Spiritualist Society's history, Carl
Soderling name always shine with a warm and heartfelt glory. During many
long years he which felled a dedicated work as a medium, lecturer and
secretary. Many members of his dear S, S. will certainly to the end of his
footsteps - and Lange in grateful memory preserve many never-to-be-forgotten
evening with Carl Soderling. His séance evenings were long awaited
gatherings, yes, religious services, nothing less. His spiritual leader
Marcus was always the one who started and finished each seance. He is a big,
warm and humble Christian personalities. And except Marcus has many, known
and unknown, men and women after "Death" been able to speak to us earth
walkers through the willing tool of the Lord, that this earth was called
Carl Soderling.
The newly formed National Association of
Spiritualism, which later formed the Stockholm spiritualist association,
counted even Soderling as medium and helpers. He belonged to the original
board and participated with lectures and sessions. Along with spiritualism
as he always devoted a religious interest, he could remember about church
work in the town church. Through the spiritualism interested cleric, he was
taken into parish work, and for a number of years, he received special
dispensation by the Bishop Sheele that during the summer months preaching in
a Gotland parish. He further held occasional sermons at Soderby sanatorium
and an evensong in Ostermalm Church. Many prominent clerics he counted as
his friends, and sometimes church brothers in Högalid he was very active.
Often, he said his opinion bluntly, impulsive as he was, and accused her
friends "to sit there and do nothing" when so many tasks awaited them. Carl
Soderling was a very religious spiritualist - reflecting himself in his
books!
That in two generations serve as a medium
is a rare luxury. The gratitude that flowed towards him after each seance
was certainly reward enough for his efforts, but there were also moments
when he known that he was not able to do more on the medial course. Several
times he wanted to quit. He wondered if he made the right. It was a force
exertion of great stature over many years, leading meetings and act as a
medium. During the summer months, he sought also relaxation and rest and
devoted himself at times other interests, but the mission he had undertaken
upon entry of this incarnation, were not neglected. He became the faithful
for life. A medium highly inflated sensitivity means that they become more
than usually susceptible to sensory expression. In his enthusiasm and
impulsiveness it happened also at some point that he performed acts that he
later regretted. "but afterwards he saw his wife kneeling deep in prayer in
order to get to the bottom" and after a while, he was happy and contented
again. He was not only religious public but also in the home. He understood
the value of prayer. The figure of Christ appeared to him as the ideal
figure of man. Man's goal should be to reach so far as to become like him.
Within each of us there is something of Christ. For the Bible, he had a deep
respect, but always held that it had a literal and a spiritual meaning. Not
everyone understood the spiritual, which is only revealed to those who put
themselves available to its message.
Karnske he had in the last months of his illness his greatest religious
experience - which will not be mentioned, but this much is certain that at
the end understood the value of the life he led.
He experienced the consequences of the deeds of various kinds, which he
performed in earth life, and he was prepared to enter into the next life.
"After 75 years of date approached, it became clear to his closest friends,
it was uncertain whether he would survive
it. For a good friend, he also said a few days
before that, he knew that he would celebrate it on the other side. And as
was the case.
Saturday, April 10, 1948 ended a rich and blessed life, a work that will
bear fruit in the coming times.
Carl Soderling memory will always live among Scandinavian spiritualists, as
surely as he lives in the world, from which he was privileged to convey so
many instructive and edifying message, which had become so great benefit to
his fellow wanderers on the earth plane.
Soderblom has once said that saints are those
people who in their life proclaim and prove that God lives.
During the long period of nearly fifty years of
Carl Soderling served as Medium, his quest and victorious faith through his
life preaching and proving, that God lives.
From his book "The Dead Live" issued by Excelsior's
publishers which this summary information is taken - one can read his
portrayal of Christianity in spiritualism - which is a very interesting
interpretation, which I heartily recommend!
