Below you will see the photos and reports of an experiment carried out in the 20s of last century where a group of researchers spiritualists maintained contact for several months with spirits and its embodiments in addition to his work in liquid paraffin.

All this work was documented in the book "The Work of the Dead" with the first edition in 1921 by the Brazilian Spiritist Federation

The photos will appear on the following excerpt from the 1st edition of "The Work of the Dead" by Nelson Faria - published by the Brazilian Spiritist Federation - Year: 1921 (see cover below). The texts are taken from the 5th edition of the same publisher

We consider that the photos are scanned copies faithful to the 1st edition of book published in 1921. As described in the book itself, the photos were taken at the beginning of the twentieth century - a time when possible assemblies and / or fraud using the photo was very unlikely.

The text in blue italics are not part of the book. Comments are entered by the Fraternity Spiritist Group of Sister Clotilde. Just the desire to release these photos to research and studies on the materialization of spirits and objects, we make them available on the intenet, with some extracts from his own work cited above. We strongly suggest reading the complete "The Work of the Dead. It is available in the bookstore of the Brazilian Spiritist Federation.

Most of the photos published in "The Work of the Dead" were obtained by Maestro Ettore Bosio (Plate 2) in the family home Prado (Plate 1). Precisely in order to provide total reliability and credibility to the phenomenon, the sessions were - large audience is present (Plate 7).  The following is an excerpt from page. 25.

Eminent composer, his temperament and his shy away from the glories of copyright, it was reserved, judging by the beginning of his artistic career, the success of their youth work. One of his most cherished operas, while still young, "The Duke of Viseu," libretto by Pacheco Neto, won applause from the teachers, the friendliness of the critics, the consecration of audiences.

MAESTRO ETTORE BOSIO

The following is an excerpt from pg. 36. 36.
 "The John" - was called in his latest incarnation Felismino Rebelo de Carvalho, disembodied twenty years ago. He was the uncle of the Medium and had the youthful character, from time to time betrays in its manifestations. It is also a proven principle in Spiritism: death, simply return to normal life, which is the Spirit, he improved only by one, the intellectual and moral dead. What happens is, alone, is that being free of influence from the yoke of the matter, the soul perceives better, and better understand the various problems of life, eternal and progressive development of human beings within the creation.

The following is an excerpt from page. 38, comparing the photo when the Spirit of "John" was embodied and disembodied.
To the right put your picture when red (Plate 3), and together, on the left, in the same Spirit (Plate 4). It is remarkable clarity and sharpness of the picture, the "pose" solemn, the cloak room, extending his left arm barely visible holding a part of your spiritual clothing. At the top of the head there is a fluid arc and back panels are also animistic, involving it. Only a small difference between the two portraits is that the spiritual has the mustache a little more visible.

"Anita" - Shortly after the materialization of John, one night, unexpectedly discovered the psychic's office girl. Who would? He named Anita, saying she had been florist in your last incarnation. The following is an excerpt from page. 64.

On June 24 Anversario celebrating the start of the experiences of John, Mr. Euripides Prado decided to make one session. Before large audience, estimated at 80 people, there were several phenomena with absolute clarity. (Plate 7)

The following refers to communication between the Maestro Ettore Bosio with the author of the book, Mr. Nogueira de Faria. (extracted from page. 79)
From as did the first experiments in photography, gives us the information itself maestro Ettore Bosio in the following lines:
"Dear friend Dr. Nogueira de Faria.
Regards.
In response to your letter asking me about the photographic works made by me on various spiritual manifestations at Mr. Prado Euripedes, I am pleased to transmit to you the following news:
After seeing three times at the residence of Mr. Prado Euripides, the sessions of materialization phenomena in March 1920, reminded him of the opportunity to photograph the Spirits when materialized. My proposal was abruptly dismissed, arguing that Mr. Prado had done with Mr. Peter Baptist identical experience, who had completely negative results. I pondered this fact was no reason to give up on the way, and pledge to make prior testing my home to study the matter and determine the precise dosage of magnesium and barely needed to avoid excess of light, medium and detrimental to the fair impressionability of the plate. Fortunately my memory was accepted.
In my office I study those experiences, turning it into "studio" photography. After a month, I have set the exact amount of magnesium in 25 centigrams and still not satisfied with these experiences, I wanted to do further testing in the catheterization of the materialization with Mr. Prado, so that this scaling was not equal to my office.

One day in April 1920, at 16 hours, I focused the camera on a particular item on the porch of the residence of Mr. Prado, where one of us should sit, doing "the role of the Spirit." I put the shelf for magnesium under the balloon, hold and secure the roof, to receive the smoke, thus hurt the workers and tarnish the environment. Everything ready, I asked Mr. Prado who would pose. "My daughter Antonina" - replied, solicitous. This, in turn, recalled being more convenient to own medium, to feel the impression of light magnesium. I accept this latter suggestion, indeed more reasonable, Mrs. Prado (the medium) was placed in the appropriate place.
Were taken following three plates, just in time for changes to the chassis and the new dose of the explosive.
When we took the third plate, Mrs. Prado, staggering, terrified and trembling, was assisted by her husband, sitting in one of the chairs closer. Then said, felt just before the explosion, landing softly on his left shoulder, a kind of hand, this impression that it was completely unknown, the first time, in waking, felt the touch of an invisible being.
The dosage of gunpowder for the three plates was as follows: 25, 20 and 15 centigrams, the last of which was insufficient, producing low print, as shown by the photograph with (Plate 8-B).

Our great surprise and immense joy! All plates contained manifestations of the phenomenon of spirit, observing the left side of the figure, the third, a tiny hand, tiny even on the chest near the shoulder.
Encouraged by the success first, two days later in the evening, we did other studies, these being crowned the best success. Thereafter, we made the official record, as is described.
Needless to tell you of our joy, almost childlike, these early successes, we were far from thinking of the troubles that soon awaited us.

The following considerations are told Mr. Nogueira de Faria (page 85)

Noting that the first three photos: Plate 8-A, B and C, note that Ms. Prado presents the first, a kind of glove in his right hand in the second, a sort of bag black velvet on the left hand, and finally, in the hand, small and open, to which the conductor Bosio.
An almost-anything that was worth everything to the experimenters who, incidentally, this session now expect nothing more.
In the second series, we see that the phenomenon progresses.
First, the chair, which was completely naked, it appears hidden from the left edge of the mirror covered by a cloth, and second, there is a wide range of overlapping the dress of the medium and falling to the side, in the third, the same age, the sharper, because the medium is standing, and finally, on Wednesday, emerging from black cloth, fastened to the wall, a beautiful head of a child or a doll, if you will, and a kind of white cloth involving part of the chair (plate 9 and 9 -A).

Certainly no probative value have these experiences, made, as they were, in absolute privacy. Served only to strengthen the experimenters, who had firm conviction of the phenomenon undoubtedly passed only between them and family members.

Although obtained so out of control because in absolute intimacy, there was no reason to hide the narration of such facts, and soon, although no news in the press, they were in the public domain.
Then someone remembered the "official record" referred to in the Maestro Bosio. Consulted, the Spirit has asserted the right of it, asking only the most accurate control. It seems they foresaw the fuss that that photo would raise.
Was then seated for the meeting on May 15, 1920.
To get an idea of the accuracy of this session, just read the insuspeitíssimo testimony of the two major daily morning newspapers of Bethlehem, following the publication of cliches.

Capital. The photo, which we reproduce below, reveals an interesting phenomenon spirit, manifested in the night of the 17th instant, at the residence of Euripides Mr. Prado, a bookkeeper of the firm Albuquerque & Co., of this city, and very worthy gentleman in this Capital.
Because there's been reported by the confreres of the "Jornal da Tarde", the residence of Mr. Prado has been several of these phenomena, which have assisted people in our concept of the social environment, including several doctors, judges, journalists, lawyers, etc..
Attracted by these events, the conductor Ettore Bosio is an excellent amateur photographer, decided to take a cliche of the Spirit manifested, for this we performed an experiment.
Studying the process that could ensure greater success in the work of conductor Bosio, this, to give a character of absolute authenticity proof that would hold, invited the Honorable Senator Virgil de Mendonca, Dr. Antonio Chermont, director of the State of Para and Joao Alfredo Mendonca, Secretary of "Sheet", to control their signatures with the photographic plates that would serve the interesting experience.
In fact, on the afternoon of 17th of this meeting these gentlemen in the "Photo Center", owned by Professor Jose Girard, the street May 13, in which they acquired the plates, then authenticated the same with their signatures in the presence of photographers Girard and Armando Jose Mendonca.
Signed plates and loaded the "chassis", this was only sealed and delivered in the evening, the conductor Bosio, the residence of Mr. Euripides Prado, where, at 8 am, and others, were present the Honorable. Senator Virgil de Mendonca, Dr. Nogueira de Faria, 1 mayor Apolinario Moreira, Dr. Feliciano Mendonca, pharmacist Pedro Batista, broker and wife Pedro Bastos, Joao Alfredo de Mendonca, etc..
Made preparations, the conductor Ettore Bosio, light magnesium, because the work needed to be in the darkness, grabbed a plate, which, when processed, reported the presence of a foreign assistance.
It should be underlined that the plaque was unveiled a few moments after the explosion of magnesium, was the conductor Bosio assisted in this work by a photographer's "studio" Girard.
Print the photo, with general surprise to everyone and unspeakable emotion of Euripides Mr. Prado said that the figure pictured reproduced the features of Mr. Joaquim Prado, father of the gentleman, who died years ago. (Plate 10)

In the photograph reproduced and that is a true copy of the cliche of the conductor Bosio, it becomes glued to the white wall next to you and Mr. Euripides, which is the Medium, a human figure, wrapped in a black tunic, devising it you just the face.
The fact that a closed positive proof of communication of the inhabitants of addition, deeply impressed him so much how many attended, who did not haggled his congratulations to the conductor Bosio, the splendid success of their interesting experience, which was first held in Belem.

The so-called Spirit phenomena some fifty-odd years that came to occur simultaneously, one can say, in all parts of the globe.
Hence his faction to take the third as a revelation.
In the United States, drew the attention of men of recognized moral and scientific responsibility, as, among others, the famous Judge Edmonds.
Emerged in Europe and Latin names of responsibility as William Crookes, Alexandre Aksakof, Lombroso and many others no less distinguished, who surrendered to the study of these phenomena, following a rigorous method of scientific experimentation.
They are known for the Mrs. Esperance sessions, in which, among numerous Spirits materialize to Iolanda, also operates the materialization of vagetos in the sight surprises some of the most highly educated scientists from Europe, which include the great Alexandre Aksakof, that it refers in his monumental work - "Animism and Spiritism", in which vast controversy, supporting the thesis of Spiritualists, rejects with extreme detail and great powers of logic, theories of the German scholar Hartmann, on the matter.
Aksakof theoretically studied Spiritualism for 15 years and, practically, for 20, to produce, after the work to which we refer.
No sound less famous sessions proceeded for three consecutive years, the great English scientist Sir William Crookes, who, with the help of the medium Florence Cook, studied the phenomenon of materialization of Spirit Kate King, an Indian lady that materialized, was able to live with the family of renowned British scholar for the space of several weeks, materializing and dematerialized consecutively.
So interested phenomena such scientific centers, which today can be said: the literature of Spiritualism, mostly signed by great names of world fame, is one of the largest, and there are countless companies and research centers scientific to be a highly accurate observation of facts.
In France, England, Germany, Austria, Italy, Russia and North America was also founded companies psychic studies, composed of the most notable names in the fields of experimental science, to study these facts.
In Capital, the well-known trader Euripides Prado began studies of this nature, the home of his residence, accompanied by honest people.
Once achieved the first positive manifestations, S. Marino invited several prominent personalities in this city, to assist in its activities, which are unanimous in confirming the reality of the observed facts.
At these sessions, as we know, have been observed phenomena of materialization clear, with voice output, transportation, and others less important, which shows the high degree of transcendence that have reached these phenomena.
The photo that we print is a clear plate, in which they appear in the light of magnesium, a trance medium and a ghost of a man, tell us that the faithful reproduction of the parent of the deceased Mr Euripides Prado (Plate 10).

The text reproduced below, taken from PAGE 150, refers to the picture 11 and engraving 12. In them, we can see the fingerprint of the medium and the fingerprint of the "Spirit". However, experience has found that the fingerprint of the medium is identical to the "Spirit". This shows the possibility of occurrence of the phenomenon in a soul reunion Spiritist - as studied by Ernesto Bozzano in his book "Animism and Spiritism.
We were those, again, enthusiastically embraced the idea of impressions remembered by our distinguished friend, Dr. Renato Chaves. They come, especially so indisputable and unequivocal, to prove the existence of the phenomenon of the soul or spirit phenomenon. It would be the means, but to distinguish it, at least to prove that they are distinct, because one does not eliminate the other. For various and often times we exchanged ideas on the subject with the hardworking head of our Bureau of Identification, which was given to the greater openness and fairness of intimate experiences that Mr. Prado Euripides set out to accomplish, which is a testament to good faith and trust .

Plate 18     Gloves and flowers obtained in one of the meetings held with Mr. Joao Alfredo de Mendonca and exposed at the request of the Spirit, one of the establishments of Rua Conselheiro Joao Alfredo, one of the most popular of Bethlehem.

Which tied a piece of paper signed by him, among the buckets used in the work of paraffin and previously described. The experiment was a complete success. The glove had obtained the finger jewelry in question, keeping the role perfectly. But the plaster dissolved the paraffin glove, the new model kept it as it appears in the photograph. This report is a copy (33), with a few modifications in another given by "a spirit friend", in Le Havre in 1862, and published n ' "The Gospel According to Spiritism, Allan Kardec, under the title" The Patience.

The following is an excerpt from pg. 207 207

Since the epoch of the 2nd anniversary of the apparition of the "Joao" materialized, says us the master one Bosio, that he promise, by the tiptologia, a luminous photograph. Still the family Meadow resided in the street of the Tamoios, when was deed to first attempt, of negative effect. It put the machine in the runner of home, focada in one of the appropriate points by the Spirit and left to objective open all the night, barely itself obtained in the plate some spots fluid white-snow. It asked to the "Joao" the reason of the failure, gave us, by means of an of a medium little table, that is going to do to pose a Spirit of old, but that achieve not, seen this do not only not want to photograph itself, but also done not stay faced with to objective the necessary time for impress the plate. In the month of July, do not I recollect the day, the family Meadow ea my were invited for pass the day with the of the Mr. Joao of the Rock Fernandes, dedicated our friend, come back from there, nearby the midnight. Already the previous day to this the "Joao" promise us another one attempt in the new residence of the Mr. Meadow, Saint Side Street Mateus, 142. They received the instructions you are necessary, fulfill them scrupulously. The machine, to that same hour, was focada for the center of the small room of the 1º walk, beside another I retire, with the door of communication, stayed this open, and in which to Ms. Meadow and his husband slept. I opened the chassis and I covered prudent to objective, asking to the "Joao" itself he remove-her, the time I need for do the exposition, and recoloca-her. It answered us affirmatively. Closed itself the door that gave for the runner, withdrawing me right away. In the early morning, at 6 o'clock and half, was know about the result. The machine was there with the objective one covered similarly as it had left. It would have the "Joao" open the machine and impressed the plate? As the sabe-him? We ask him then, by the tiptologia, and he answered us the following one: -I want to know theirs opinion about the mine first photographic work! It would be possible? Bad degree the amazing things to that already assistíramos, we longed for the test of this experience. I ran it reveal the picture in the atelier of the Girard. I will not be able to describe to my emotion upon uncovering, still in the revealing bath, that the plate outside impressed! It is to more beautiful photograph than obtivemos (Engraving 28) 

The following is an excerpt from page. 208

So the case of three pictures that follow, all weird and lends itself admirably to the gossip and criticism in part, eager for the opportunity to unfair attack.
The first photograph appears off the grid, where the medium is a perfect doll's head superimposed on white robes to their points on the right, as it is tied to the mast, sealed, closed the grid. Where did the doll's head? Transport? It is entirely unacceptable the idea. Asked, the Spirit said only: Manoel de Barbosa Rodrigues - one of the most assiduous frequenters of the meetings of materialization, which was not, in fact, that night. "They'll remember," the Spirit. (Plate 29).

When questioned by us, Barbosa Rodrigues, how much effort is made, failed to recognize the head, a fact that even today the intrigue.
It is also seen in this photo, as if coming out of the hands or mouth of the medium, a white band that, through the larger grid to a smaller one, where were the buckets falls on them. Within the latter grid, much preached, were the buckets in which the Spirit plunged his hand to make molds in paraffin. It is noted, at one end of the full white fluid, like a cast of hand.

Weird is the photograph of No. 30. It is seen between Mrs. Fisher and Mrs. Leopoldina Antonina, who is a medium psychographics, a figure with his face covered. In photographs published in numerous works congeners have observed similar cases. See, for example, the recent work of Madame Lacombe and Madame Bisson.
We do not know what to attribute this fact spirits hide the face - unless, not always allowing the environment to materialize so perfect as to afford the rearrangement of facial features in all its details, they prefer to present them blindfolded.

The following is an excerpt from page. 211

Very strange is still the third picture.  We see a ghost hand and foot as that of adult holding a child, whose head and a lovely celestial beauty comes the time when he should be. (Plate 32)

Still deserve a photograph of the Spirit "John", reproduced in the picture No. 41. You kind of shrouded in visibly crumpled sheet and wearing white canvas shoes.  It would also be a case of transport, whose restoration of such parts only use was as lucky to impress the plate and not the retina of the experimenter? It was 9 o'clock in the morning.
In the Medium, nothing was seen before that objective. Unveiled the plaque, accused the clothing and shoes. It is bewildering?

Plate 33 First experiment, after the memorable meeting of August 20, 1920. It is seen, placed on the arm of Mr. Manoel Tavares, sitting in first place on the left, a small white hand, wrapped in swaddling clothes.

Plate 34    Second experiment. The floor, touching the feet of Mr. Manoel Tavares, is the hand appeared on previous experience. Mr. Tavares has accused the pressure of the fingers of the Spirit, shaking his feet.

It tells me so Maestro Bosio discovery of daylight photography of spirits without the aid of magnesium:
"My friend Prado was absent, had gone to Santa Isabel, a town 2 hours away from the capital.
Speaking to me about Mrs. Prado more sensitive psychic, told me that when away from loved ones, as his mother, children, spouse, etc.. I felt profound sadness and a strange feeling, a kind of abandonment and a general weakening causing a state that it did not set well. On these occasions, he said, I see my own double.
- Eureka! I said, we photograph in broad daylight!
- How?
Allow me, madam, I put an emphasis, the camera toward the chair in which he is currently sitting, which will be kept in the same place together with a camera. Qualquer momento em que a senhora se sentir cair em transe, procure sentar-se nela e confie em Deus. Nada lhe sucederá de maior.
Ficou assim combinado. Instruí a Sra. Antonina (filha da médium), pedindo-lhe que, dado o momento preciso, abrisse a tampa da objetiva, contando 5 tempos regulares.
O momento não se fez esperar, impressionando uma chapa, a qual, revelada incontinenti, acusou a fotografia fluidicamente a médium, de tamanho muito maior do que o natural, ficando apenas na cadeira poucos fluidos e vendo-se, sempre nesta, a forma tenuíssima da parte inferior do corpo da Sra. Prado! Maravilhoso! Assombroso mesmo! (Gravura 35)

(...) Renovámos a experiência poucos dias depois. (...) We renew the experience a few days later. Estavam presentes nessa ocasião o Dr. João Correa (irmão da médium) e também as Srtas. Were present on this occasion Dr. John Correa (brother of the medium) and also the Srtas. Alice  e Antonina (suas filhas), além do seu amigo Bosio, na qualidade de fotógrafo-amador. Alice and Antonina (his daughters), and your friend Bosio, as amateur photographers. Eis o magnífico resultado: (Gravura 36) (...) Here is the magnificent result (Plate 36) (...)
(...) O Sr. Prado resolveu outra viagem e desta vez por maior tempo, indo com seu filho Erato até ao Rio. Permitiu-me, por extrema gentiliza, e dados os laços de recíproca extima entre nossas famílias, que observasse todos os fenômenos espíritas produzidos por efeito de mediunidade de sua esposa, menos o da materialização. (...) Mr. Prado decided another trip and this time for longer, going with his son to the Rio Erato enabled me, by far gentiliza, and given the bonds of mutual extima between our families, to observe all spiritualistic phenomena produced by the effect of channeling his wife, the less the materialization.

O maestro Bosio considera o resultado incompleto e incerto por não ficar provado, positivamente, se as manchas que apareceram na vidraça da porta ao fundo foram efeitos de algum fenômeno ou por outra qualquer causa. Mas perguntamos, que causa seria essa? Plate 40   Fenômeno luminoso, refletindo-se no soalho. Fotografia diurna. Com uma boa lente, parece-nos que distinguimos vários semblantes, embora indistintamente. Atente bem o leitor para o alto da claridade da parede e à direita da mesma claridade.

Além dos fantasmas perfeitamente visíveis, no primeiro plano, o leitor atento, com auxílio de uma lente, distinguirá, no alto, vários semblantes também perfeitamente visíveis. Para conseguir fotografar esse Espírito foi uma luta insana, que o maestro Bosio relata minuciosamente no seu livro tantas vezes citado. Em uma das vezes em que veio a público, pela imprensa, o Sr. Fred Fígner, chefe da Casa Édison, do Rio de Janeiro, afirmou ter visto sua filha (Gravura 45) , falecida há muitos meses, completamente materializada, por virtude da mediunidade da Sra. Eurípedes Prado, nesta Capital.

Depois desta declaração, e, alías, antes dela, começaram a circular na cidade diversas narrativas dos sensacionais acontecimentos. Resolvemo-nos, pois, obter do Sr. Fred Fígner, hospedado no Grande Hotel, uma entrevista, na qual pudéssemos informar aos nossos leitores, com absoluta segurança, o que de verdade havia naquelas narrativas.
Dirigimo-nos, assim, àquele hotel, onde fomos recebido cavalheirosamente pelo Sr. Fígner.
Formulado nosso desejo, S. Sé. falou:
- Deseja o senhor que lhe relate os fenômenos por mim presenciados e produzidos com a privilegiada mediunidade da Sra. Eurípedes Prado? Pois não, Sr. Redator, com muito prazer. Vou dar-lhe alguns pormenores que presenciámos, eu e minha família, em três sessões riquíssimas de fenômenos.
Comeárei por lhe dizer que aqui vim, não por curiosidade minha, visto que sabia ser a materialização um fato comprovadopor Crookes, em primeiro lugar, em Lodres, desde o ano de 1871, quando começou, então, a hoje célebre materialização de Katie King, servindo de médium a Sra. Florence Cook, e, seguidamente, experiências idênticas relatadas por tantas outras sumidades científicas.
Vim com o fito único de minorar a tristeza ea dor que acabrunhavam minha esposa, por haver desencarnado uma filha nossa muito amada.
Aqui chegando, tive a desilusão de não encontrar a família Prado. Recebido pelos meus confrades, prontificaram-se eles a telegrafar ao Sr. Prado, participando-lhe minha chegada com a família, e pediram, se fôsse possível, viesse até aqui. A despeito de adoentada sua esposa, resolveu ele aceder ao apelo, aqui chegando no "Pais de Carvalho", no dia 28 de Abril depoisde uma penosa viagemn de 7 dias.
No dia 1º de Maio, fêz-se uma sessão preliminar, a que estiveram presentes, além da família Prado, a família Manoel Tavares, a família Bosio eo Dr. Mata Bacelar.
Materializaram-se João e um Espírito denomindao Evangelista. Havia bastante luz e distinguiam-se os Espíritos perfeitamente, como se fôssem homens com vestes brancas que andassem de um lado para o outro. Demorou-se João bastante tempo conosco, de forma que bem o pudemos ver e sentir. Minha esposa, dirigindo-se a João, contou-lhe seu sofrimento, o que atento ele ouvia. Recebeu de minha senhora umas flores que ela levara, as quais João passou para a mão esquerda. Em seguida João estendeu a mão direita à minha senhora, fazendo ela o mesmo; João passou sua mão sobre a dela, fazendo-lhe sentir que estava perfeitamente materializado.
Por fim, João, sacudindo um lenço em sinal de despedida, entrou na câmara, começou a desmaterializar-se às nossas vistas, como o fizera quando se materializou. Daí a pouco, ouvimos umas pequenas pancadas que ele dava no rosto da médium para a despertar.
Esta primeira sessão me deixou completamente frio, visto que eu vira tão somente aquilo que esperava.
Tudo aquilo era coisa muito natural para mim, quanto `sua realidade.
Minha esposa, porém,apesar de também conhecer, de leitura, os fenômenos, ficou muito satisfeita, começando a nutrir esperanças de ver nossa filha, moça de 21 anos, desencarnada em 30 de Março de 1920.
A segunda sessão, realizada a 2 de Maio, foi, realmente, muito mais importante.
Havia nessa ocasião pessoas que não conheciam os fenômenos, bem como a Doutrina Espírita, entre elas o Dr. Remígio Fernendez, o Sr. Barbosa ea Sra. Pernanbuco.
Materializaram-se muitos Espíritos de diversas estaturas, entre eles a nossa cara filha Racuel.
Mas, devido talvez ao excessivo número de materializações, que absorveram muitos fluidos, e entre os Espíritos materializados um de nome Diana que, creio, se apresentou com um brilhante de diadema na cabeça, a materialização da nossa Rachel não era tão perfeita quanto esperávamos; no entanto,era bastante para ser reconhecida por todos nós. Nessa sessão, ela perguntou, à sua mãe, "porque aquele vestuário preto, visto que ela se sentia muito feliz".
No dia 4 de Maio fizemos outra sessão, e nesta a materialização de nossa filha foi a mais perfeita possível. Rachel apresentou-se com tanta perfeição, com tanta graça e tão ela mesma, com os mesmos gestos e modos, que não pudemos conter nossa emoção e todos, chorando, de joelhos, rendemos graças a Deus, por tamanha esmola.
Era Rachel viva, pronta para ir a uma festa. A sua cabeça erguida, os seus braços redondos, o seu sorriso habitual, as suas bonitas mãos e até a posição destas, toda sua exatamente como era na Terra. Falou à mãe, pedindo-lhe exatamente que na próxima sessão viesse toda de branco como desejava e aí estava materializada.
Rachel tocou todos nós com a sua mão; sentimos todos o seu calor natural e, à observação de minha esposa: “Rachelzinha, tu tinhas os cabelos tão bonitos, mostra-nos os teus cabelos”, ela entrou no gabinete e, voltando instantes depois, virou-se duas vezes, mostrando-nos seus cabelos compridos e ondulados. Aceitando as flores que lhe oferecemos, fêz sua mãe sentar-se em uma cadeira junto ao gabinete e de costas para        este. Abraçou-a e beijou-a muito carinhosamente, depois lhe colocou uma rosa na blusa branca, que minha esposa vestira para ser agradável à filha, que na véspera não gostara de vê-la de preto. Na ocasião em que lhe colocou a rosa, falou-lhe de seus próprios lábios, dizendo-lhe: “Não quero que ande de preto, ouviu? Quero que venha toda de branco, assim como eu estou.”
Toda essa frase minha filha a pronunciou tão clara e distintamente que todos, além de minha esposa, a ouvimos.
Depois, sentando-me eu na mesma cadeira por ordem sua, acariciou-me como fizera à sua mãe, colocou uma angélica na lapela de meu paletó, apoiando-se com todo o peso de seu corpo sobre os meus ombros. Por fim, sacudindo um lenço em sinal de despedida, entrou no gabinete e desapareceu.
Puxei o relógio, Rachel tinha estado aí 40 minutos.
Depois saiu o João e cantou, muito satisfeito com a materialização de sua discípula.
A 6 de Maio fizemos a última sessão.
O resultado foi o mesmo da anterior, com acréscimo de Rachel fazer diante de nós uma luva em parafina, de sua mão esquerda, consultando muitas vezes João, que se achava no gabinete, porém à nossa vista, durante todo o tempo em que ela trabalhava com a parafina. Logo ao se materializar, Rachel, saltando e batendo palmas, demonstrou sua satisfação por ver sua mãe toda de branco; e, ao despedir-se, pediu-lhe que levasse sua irmã Leontina às festas e ao Teatro, como fazia com ela. Rachel esteve conosco, nessa ocasião, durante duas horas.
Por fim, pedi a Rachel que me permitisse beijar-lhe a mão. O mesmo pedido foi feito por minha esposa e mais duas filhas aí presentes, além de umas 10 pessoas. Ela deu a mão a beijar à sua mãe e à menor das suas irmãs; e, aproximado-se de mim, num gesto rápido, todo seu, pegou minha mão com bastante força e beijou-a. E, sacudindo um lenço em sinal de despedida, entrou no gabinete. Não sentimos sua partida, pois estamos certos de que não será esta a última vez que a veremos. Rachel vive! Disto estava certo antes de aqui vir e continuo com a mesma certeza.
Tenho entretanto de confessar que estas duas horas e 40 minutos foram para todos nós o tempo mais feliz de nossa existência.
E permita-me que, por seu intermédio, uma vez mais agradeça ao Sr. e Sra. Prado o sacrifício que fizeram de vir aqui, e ao maestro Bosio e senhora as gentilezas de que nos cumularam, assim como a todos os confrades e amigos o acolhimento que nos fizeram. Agradeço também à “Folha do Norte” pela cessão de suas colunas. Que Deus lhe pague!
